On June 29, 2013 I will join a group of local bicyclists to ride in the fifth annual “CVIM Cycling for Care” to raise money and awareness for Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM.) CVIM provides medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services free of charge to the thousands in Centre County without healthcare. Every day, CVIM cares for people with any number of treatable illnesses and conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, extreme dental decay, anxiety and depression, to name a few.

CVIM is a community effort to help our friends and neighbors in need. Funded primarily from the community, CVIM has seen a recent increase in the number of individuals and families seeking care. Currently, there are over 1800 on the waiting list for dental care, and over 200 for medical care.

Now more than ever, CVIM needs our support. Will you join me in the challenge of raising $50,000 for our neighbors without health insurance by sponsoring me with a donation?


CVIM is a free clinic providing medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services to the thousands in Centre County without healthcare coverage.   Every day, CVIM cares for people with any number of treatable illnesses and conditions, such as:  high blood pressure, diabetes, extreme dental decay, mental health issues, to name a few.

Please join me in the fund raising efforts for this wonderful organization that provides medical & dental benefits for those folks that don't qualify for the same benefits that we are blessed with.

I got hurt this past winter with a serious foot/ankle injury and was off my feet for several weeks. During that time I saw my primary care doctor, a specialist, and I went to physical therapy to get back on my feet. All of this care was covered by my medical benefits. I can't even imagine what I would have done if I didn't have good medical benefits to get me through this situation.

When I was first injured I never thought I would be back on my bicycle and riding just a few short months later. .

Last week I got hurt again. This time I ended up with bruised ribs. But like the first injury I know I will bounce back and get back on my bike to train for this CVIM fund raising opportunity!

This is my third year riding in the CVIM Cycling for Care Ride and this year I'm going after a personal goal to raise $1,000 or more for this wonderful organization.

Positive care from doctors will allow me  to get back on my bicycle and the fantastic medical benefits I am fortunate to have will help pay for my care! I will ride 30 miles for the people in our community who wouldn't have the needed medical and dental benefits if not for the Centre Volunteers in Medicine and all of the wonderful services they provide.
