On June 29, 2013 I will join a group of local bicyclists to ride in the fifth annual “CVIM Cycling for Care” to raise money and awareness for Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM.) CVIM provides medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services free of charge to the thousands in Centre County without healthcare. Every day, CVIM cares for people with any number of treatable illnesses and conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, extreme dental decay, anxiety and depression, to name a few.

CVIM is a community effort to help our friends and neighbors in need. Funded primarily from the community, CVIM has seen a recent increase in the number of individuals and families seeking care. Currently, there are over 1800 on the waiting list for dental care, and over 200 for medical care.

Now more than ever, CVIM needs our support. Will you join me in the challenge of raising $50,000 for our neighbors without health insurance by sponsoring me with a donation?


CVIM is a free clinic providing medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services to the thousands in Centre County without healthcare coverage.   Every day, CVIM cares for people with any number of treatable illnesses and conditions, such as:  high blood pressure, diabetes, extreme dental decay, mental health issues, to name a few.

You have to realize that I can't continue these 62 mile rides forever!  However I'm gonna once again do this ride for a very good cause - Centre Volunteers in Medicine.  Most if not all of you know that the monies raised through this ride go directly towards medical and dental care for those in need.  Keep in mind that the recipients must be working but not earning enough to afford health or dental care.  If you are unaware of the benefits of CVIM please visit their web site.  But now, back to this ride:  I'm asking for your contribution through my name, in the hope that I win the mountain bike!  Yeah, yeah, I know - I don't need another bike.  And you're right, I don't.  But if I happen to win, it will become a silent auction piece during CVIM's "Battle of the Minds" in the fall, thus doubling some of our donations.
Please consider giving to CVIM and Cycle for Care fundraiser.  If I'm lucky I'll again send a request next year - that will mean I'm still on the bike!
