This year, I will join a group of local runners participating in various marathons as a means of raising money and awareness for Centre Volunteers in Medicine. Marathoners for Medicine has grown from a single person running the Boston Marathon and collecting money in support of his run, to a group of about 20 runners who run several different marathons in support of CVIM.
Please help me raise funds and awareness for CVIM.
CVIM is a free clinic providing medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services to the thousands living or working in Centre County without healthcare coverage. Every day, CVIM cares for people with any number of treatable illnesses and conditions, such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, extreme dental decay, and mental health issues.
Each time I hear a personal story about the people that are helped by Centre Volunteers in Medicine - people who work hard but can't afford basic or emergency medical coverage - I feel I would gladly climb a mountain or suffer slings and arrows for these people, neighbors of mine that I may never meet. The least I can do - combined with giving myself a challenge - is to train for and do a tough race that raises money so CVIM can keep serving those neighbors of mine.
You can help them, and propel me, with a donation of any size, to CVIM. On June 17 at 8 a.m., I will begin running the Eager Seeger Half Marathon in Central PA's Rothrock State Forest, a scenic run with hills enough to offer a good earn-it factor. I promise I'll let you know how it went. Thanks for your generous partnership with me and CVIM.
