Andy Cunningham's Story:
Hi. I've been a local runner in the State College area since I finished four years of service in the army and came here to complete my college degree. I began running on teams in the army, but I felt like I blossomed here in Centre county running with NVRC members and in all the local races here, which I've grown to love. I ran my first Boston in 2009 as a member of CVIM team and it was an incredible experience to train and run with the team while raising money for a wonderful cause. Fast forward ten years and things have changed immensely. Now, CVIM has runners competing in all kinds of great races and distances, and I am so very happy to continue to be a part of the team. This will be my fifth Boston marathon, but my first one in four years. Between raising a young family of three children and teaching, it took a lot of work to get back. And, I am so happy to be going again. There is a lot of mental preparation that goes into distance training that in some ways surpasses the physical part. But, I love it. And, I can't wait to don my CVIM singlet and hit the streets of Boston in April and take part in one of the greatest running shows on earth. There is always a point in the marathon where you realize that running for this team makes you a part of something much bigger than yourself, and I am glad to be part of it.
