Jaimie Wright's Story
This year, I will run my last Boston Marathon, and I am thrilled to be using the race to once again raise funds for Centre Volunteers in Medicine. Running has given me great joy, friendships, and strong community over the years, and I will continue to run shorter races in the years ahead. Marathon racing, though, takes its toll, and I want to be able to run as long as possible.
I am so fortunate to have health insurance and to be able to take my children to see a clinician whenever they are sick, and I am keenly aware that other people in our community are not nearly as lucky. Health care should be a right; not a privilege.
CVIM provides compassionate care for people who need it but lack insurance. It's a wonderful organization, and I hope that you will support it.
When I step up to the starting line in Hopkinton and as I run through the streets near where I grew up, I will be thinking of you and your generosity. Your support will get me to Wellesley, where two of my boys, my parents, my aunts, and my 96-year-old Papa will be cheering me on, and to the finish line. Thank you for your support!
