CVIM's Behavioral Health Campaign
Access to behavioral health care is a cornerstone of a healthy and productive community. Mental health challenges affect people from all walks of life and can have far-reaching impacts on families, workplaces, and society as a whole. In 2016, physicians at Centre Volunteers in Medicine began recording higher-than-average rates of depression, anxiety, and adverse childhood experiences in their patients. With no affordable referral options, CVIM was motivated to act and opened its Behavioral Health Program in 2019. Since then, we have expanded as much as possible to meet our overwhelming caseload.
We need YOUR help. There are not enough licensed mental health professionals in Centre County to meet the county's needs. This makes finding volunteers for our program difficult, and we must supplement our program with paid staff. Our program's growth is restricted by our finances.
By investing in behavioral health services, YOU are helping individuals regain their stability and independence, reduce the burden on emergency services, and foster a safer, more productive Centre County community.
