In 2021, CVIM opened a Point of Care Lab (POC) to better serve our patients by reducing trips to outside labs and providing test results to the family medicine doctors while the patient was still in the clinic. Adding the Piccolo Xpress to our POC Lab will help us to greatly expand our in-house lab capabilities. The Piccolo Xpress runs 30 different tests over 15 panels. Currently CVIM's POC Lab gives our medical providers the ability to order 13 different tests and receive results in under 20 minutes. Not only does this open the doors for providers to be able to diagnose a patient faster, it also benefits our patients greatly beyond just the medical aspect of being diagnosed sooner. Simply having a simple finger stick completed in house during a medical appointment versus missing work to return for a lab appointment with a needle stick will make a world of difference for our patients.
