The 2024 Run for CVIM Challenge

Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) is excited to announce that once again Centre region runners will be running to support CVIM’s mission. This event, sponsored by Mount Nittany Health, is in its 21st year and has raised over $870,000 for CVIM patients.

_______________

For 21 years, local runners have supported Centre Volunteers in Medicine, a free medical and dental clinic in Centre County, through a program originally referred to as Marathoners for Medicine. In 2021, the program name was changed to Run for CVIM Challenge to be more inclusive and allow flexibility on the distance and type of run being attempted. This year, we again invite everyone from the running community to run and raise funds for CVIM.

The need is great, and every dollar counts.  You are not required to raise a minimum dollar amount, or run a minimum distance, but we would love for as many runners as possible in our community to participate!

If you join the Run for CVIM Challenge, you can choose any race you like (any distance, traditional or virtual) or, alternatively, you can set up your own personal running goal (e.g., if you are new to running, you could set up a goal of running 3 days per week). Once you conclude on the race you plan to run or the running goal you have established, you can then set up a fundraising page and invite friends and family to contribute in support of your efforts to benefit CVIM.

_______________

CVIM is a free clinic providing medical and dental care to individuals living or working in Centre County who lack insurance coverage. Many patients earn too much to qualify for Medicaid yet earn too little for the Affordable Care Act mandates to apply. CVIM offers additional services that include Medication Assistance, Case Management Service, and Behavioral Health Service to aid our patients finding other forms of assistance to ease their burdens.

The funds raised through the Run for CVIM Challenge are critical to the existence of CVIM, as CVIM is not government funded and must raise operational expenses through donations, grants and events.
